On February 9-11, 2017, the BHS Bass Anglers competed at Lake Eufaula.
Went on an expedition to find some new lakes and ponds that I could fish from the bank! After unboxing $1,000 worth of tackle in my previous video, it was time to take some of those lures onto the water and see how they fared against some lethargic summer bass. After a fair bit of browsing on google maps, I discovered a very interesting chain of five lakes/ponds that were within a mile distance of each other. With four rods & reels and 25 pounds of gear in hand, I set out to see what awaited me at this mystery spot!

Fishing for largemouth bass in summer and early fall can be a tough bite sometimes. In this video you will learn that purple worms like these are a go to in many lakes when the bass are not biting other lures, and how to fish them multiple ways to catch bass. I’m joined by some of subscribers, Chis and Carter Duff, along with the Living the Dream Guide Service on Toledo Bend Reservoir on the Texas – Louisiana border. Our guide Matt, and many other anglers in the area will tell you that fishing with purple worms, is the way to go in the tough months on this lake. We started out fishing deep offshore points on the main lake, and then moved up into the creeks in the afternoon. The only thing we could get bite on out deep was a purple worm, rigged on a drop shot, shakey head, or Texas rig. After locating some schooling fish in the afternoon, we caught a lot of bass close the the surface with crankbaits. We ended up catching 50 largemouth bass in one day! It was an awesome fishing day with my subs and LTD Guide Service on one of the best bass fishing lakes in the country.

The crankbait bite is already starting! Get ahead of the bite this year instead of being the guy playing catch up! Every year the transition from post spawn to full summer pattern happens in the blink of an eye. One minute we’re talking about bed fishing, the next its all ledge fishing, crankbaits, and topwater.
Deep cranking is one of the best ways to consistently load the boat with bass during the Summer months. The bite will start now and typically run all the way into September or October depending on the lake. The key to consistently catching bass on deep cranks is to adapt size and color of the baits to changing conditions.
This year we want you to focus on fine tuning your presentations at different depths. Below is a list of baits and equipment that we personally use for this application.

This was the last chance we had to fish in Arkansas before the thunderstorms came in so we decided to do a catch and cook. TJ told me that there are three fish that people mainly eat: crappie, walleye and Kentucky bass. To my surprise, we managed to catch all three types of fish for the perfect chance to taste them all at once and compare. We also caught many Shad on a gill net and I was very curious to see how they taste. No one wanted to try them at first, but in the end everyone had one!
On second thought, I think it’s a tie between crappie and walleye for flavor and which fish I would target if I were to cook and eat one.

Alex Rudd demonstrates how to fish topwater for summer bass using the BD Series Popper. He breaks it down into rigging, retrieval and location.
This video, we started at a close by lake but didn’t have very good luck there besides a couple on a wacky rig and one on a shiner head. We then went to a golf course we like to fish and our friend hooked up to a monster 7 3/4 pound bass! We hope you enjoyed the video! Please leave a like, comment, and subscribe!

The wacky jighead is Mike Iaconelli’s favorite finesse system, and one to which he credits a couple tournament wins. The system consists of a jighead with light-wire hook matched with a favorite stickbait.
Iaconelli delves into characteristics of a good jighead, plus the proper rod, reel and line for fishing this system around cover or open water. If you’re a fan of unweighted wacky rigging, you’ll gain from the benefits a jighead provides. Beginner or seasoned pro, bass boat or walking the bank, this is a get-bit system for bass fishing.
