Additional tips – For smaller bass or treble hook baits, you'll probably need to flatten down the barb with pliers then you may have to carefully enter through the gills to get the proper angle for gut hook removal.

Overview – My first gut hooked fish in over two years. I bombed a 55-60 yard cast straight to the fountain in the middle of the pond and couldn't really tell the fish had taken the bait because of the slight bow in the line. I was also using KVD fishsticks crawfish attractant, so the combination of my delayed hookset and use of attractant allowed the fish to swallow the bait.
