Introduction to Geographic Resources Analysis Support System (GRASS)



Geographic Resources Analysis Support System (GRASS) is an open source Geographic Information System (GIS) software used for geo-processing analysis to manipulate raster and vector data. GRASS GIS is currently used in academic and commercial settings around the world, as well as by many governmental agencies and environmental consulting companies. In this video we will navigate in the GRASS folder-architecture and we learn the main concept of “location”, “mapset”, “region”. A practical exercise will guide how to start GRASS and switch “mapset“ and how to start a new GRASS project. The exercises are stored at www.spatial-ecology.net under
